TL;DR: Buying protective or packaging film for the first time? Jump to the question that matches your issue — residue, removal window, thickness (mil to micron), bubbles and edge lifting, roll coverage, MOQ or free samples. Want the spec sheet fast? Tell us your application on the contact page and we will send the matching spec sheet and arrange samples.
1. What protective and packaging films does Chiswear manufacture?
We are a China-based manufacturer of PE surface protective films (for panels, profiles, stainless steel, glass, carpet and floors) and packaging films such as PE shrink film, POF shrink film and stretch film. Tell us your substrate, application and required adhesion, and we will recommend the right grade.
2. Will the protective film leave adhesive residue on my surface after removal?
Our adhesive systems are engineered for residue-free removal on properly prepared surfaces. Residue risk depends on substrate type, temperature, dwell time and surface porosity, so always test on your actual material first. Exact residue performance is per spec sheet and confirmed with our factory upon inquiry.
3. What is the recommended removal window? How long can the film stay on before I remove it?
Each grade has a defined recommended removal window, which depends on the adhesive formulation, substrate and exposure conditions. A film rated for a shorter window should not be left on for months, as aging can make removal harder. The exact removal window for your order is confirmed on the spec sheet.
4. The film is self-adhesive. How do I apply it without bubbles?
Apply it to a clean, dry, dust-free surface. Tack one edge first, then smooth the film down gradually with a squeegee as you unroll, pushing air out toward the edges. Apply at normal room temperature without stretching the film — stretching causes edge lifting later.
5. What film thickness do I need, and how do mils convert to microns?
Thickness is chosen by your application and substrate. The unit conversion is fixed: 1 mil = 25.4 micrometers (um). Your recommended thickness grade for the job is confirmed with our factory and listed on the spec sheet. Send us your substrate and handling conditions and we will advise.
6. How do I avoid trapped bubbles and edge lifting during application?
Bubbles usually come from a dirty surface or applying too fast — clean the substrate and squeegee slowly from the center outward. Edge lifting is often caused by stretching the film during application, low temperature, or a tack level too weak for the surface. Pre-testing adhesion to your exact substrate prevents both.
7. How much surface area does one roll cover? How many rolls do I need per square meter or square foot?
Coverage equals film width multiplied by length. For example, a 1 meter wide by 100 meter long roll covers 100 m2 (about 1,076 sq ft). Exact roll width and length are customized per order, so the number of rolls per m2 or sq ft on your pallet is calculated once we confirm your specs.
8. How should the film be shipped and stored? What is the shelf life?
Rolls are packed on pallets and shipped by sea, air or express. Store them upright in a cool, dry indoor place, away from direct sunlight and heat. When kept sealed in the original packaging, the typical recommended shelf life is around 12 months from production; confirm the exact figure on the spec sheet.
9. Do you offer OEM, private label and custom printing?
Yes. We support OEM orders, private label and custom logo printing on the film, the paper core or the export carton. Minimum print runs and plate costs are confirmed with our factory upon inquiry. Share your artwork and target markets and we will advise on the most cost-effective option.
10. How UV-resistant and weatherable is the film?
UV resistance varies by grade. Standard indoor grades are not built for long outdoor exposure, while UV-stabilized grades are available for exterior job sites. Expected outdoor weathering time depends on your local climate and is confirmed per spec sheet. Tell us your location and exposure length when you request samples.
11. How do I request free samples? What is the sampling process?
The process is simple: tell us your application (substrate, required adhesion, thickness, use case), our team confirms the right specs, then samples are arranged. Sample policy, including quantity, cost and lead time, is confirmed with our factory upon inquiry. Start from the contact page or email wally@chidecor.com.
12. What certifications do your films hold?
Our factory operates under an ISO9001 quality management system. Product-level test reports, for example SGS reports, and compliance documents are available for the relevant grades. Specific certification requirements such as CE or food-contact standards are confirmed grade by grade upon your inquiry.
13. What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
MOQ depends on the film type, thickness, adhesive color and whether it is a custom or stock grade. Stock items can ship in smaller quantities, while custom production carries a higher MOQ. Your exact MOQ is quoted once our team confirms your specifications.
14. How do I choose the right adhesive strength — low, medium or high tack?
Adhesion is matched to your substrate: smooth, delicate surfaces need low tack to avoid damage, while rough or textured surfaces need higher tack to stay bonded. The wrong tack causes either premature lifting or residue on removal. Send us your substrate details and we will recommend the correct grade.
15. Can the film be applied or removed in very hot or cold weather?
Application and removal are easiest at normal room temperature. Cold weather reduces adhesive tack and slows both application and clean removal, while excessive heat speeds up aging. If your job site runs outdoors in extreme heat or cold, tell us your temperature range so we can specify a suitable grade.
16. How do I get a price quote or the full spec sheet?
Use our contact page and send your film type, dimensions, quantity and target market. Our team replies with a quotation and the matching spec sheet. You can also email wally@chidecor.com directly. We support both small sample-testing orders and container-level production orders.
